First recording date set
After a number of weeks rehearsing with Scott, we’ve finally booked ourselves into our first recording session. The LL Cool Jazz recording begins in the studio on Tuesday 21st October 2014. We’re imagining that we’ll need a few sessions to get the tracks down, but it shouldn’t take too long to get a rough edit happening.
Our rehearsals ended up being chat sessions and a bit of playing. I mean, we’re not playing to any particular arrangements of the songs. It’s all going to be improvised when we get into the studio, so just getting a good song rapport is really what our rehearsing was about. Because it’s going to be improvised, anything can happen in the studio. If one of us stuffs up, it will wreck the whole recording and we’ll have to start again. It’s not as dangerous as it sounds. This is how we approach all our performing!
Songlist
Luckily, we’ve also finalised our song list for the album.
Here they are in no particular order or fondness:
- You Go To My Head
- Body and Soul
- It Had To Be You
- Dream A Little Dream Of Me
- Fine and Mellow
- Agua De Beber
- S’Wonderful!
- Where Or When
- Just One Of Those Things
- Don’t Get Around Much Anymore
There’ll also be a couple of originals, but we haven’t quite decided on what we’re doing with those yet. They’ll be pushed to the end of our recording sessions.
Happy 90th!
LL Cool Jazz played at a 90th birthday party last Sunday. 90 years old! Wow, what an innings! John is a Sydney artist who’s travelled the world, seen just about everything you can imagine and he’s still young of mind. It was a great night at Alpha Gallery in Newtown.
Here’s a still of us from the night.
New domain!
LL Cool Jazz finally has their own domain name, www.llcooljazz.com. Very exciting! The website is coming soon, but ’til then, www.llcooljazz.com will take you to the LL Cool Jazz page on the Anne-Lise Larsen website. You could always join the mailing list to keep up with all the latest news!
That’s it for now. Tata! 🙂
