When I was flying over the Pacific Ocean to the USA, I opened my window shade and just as I raised it, a shooting star fell right in front of my eyes. It was a bright white and seemed to drop slowly forever. I almost felt that I could catch it. We were so high in the sky in the A380. It filled me with hope. I didn’t see another the whole trip.

Are shooting stars lucky? I used to think so but good luck seems to be short on the ground. The things I’d hoped for in the USA didn’t see fruition. Perhaps that was my good luck. Sometimes wishes are best left unfulfilled.

It’s still a thrill to see one of the universe’s wonders up close. Well, closer than from the earth’s dirt anyway.

Flight attendants suggest you keep your shades closed but I want to see all the wonders of the sky so I’m always taking sneaky peeks.
